1.3 Book Text Content for AI Processing

When you use AI-powered features in the app (such as translations, summaries, or explanations), portions of your book text content are sent to third-party AI service providers to process your requests. Specifically:

  • Data Sent: Selected text excerpts from books you are reading, limited to the specific passages you interact with
  • Recipients: OpenAI (ChatGPT API) and/or other AI service providers
  • Purpose: To provide AI-powered reading assistance features including translations, word definitions, text summaries, and context explanations
  • User Control: You can choose whether to use AI features. Text is only sent when you actively request AI assistance
  • Data Protection: Our AI service providers maintain strict data protection standards and do not use your data to train their models or for any purposes other than providing the requested service
  • No Personal Information: Only book text content is shared; no personal identifying information, account details, or metadata is included

1.4 Payment and Subscription Information

When you purchase a subscription, we may collect and process payment information through third-party payment processors (such as Apple App Store or Google Play Store). We do not directly store your payment card information. The payment processors collect:

  • Transaction details
  • Subscription status and type
  • Purchase history
  • Billing information as required by the payment processor

2. How We Use the Information

The collected data is used for the following purposes:

  • To ensure the functionality and performance of the app
  • To improve the quality of our services

  • AI Service Providers: Book text excerpts are shared with AI service providers (such as OpenAI) only when you actively use AI-powered features. Before any data is sent, the app will:
    • Clearly disclose what text content will be sent
    • Identify the AI service provider receiving the data
    • Request your explicit permission to proceed
    These AI service providers maintain data protection standards equivalent to or exceeding ours and are contractually obligated to use the data solely for providing the requested service. They do not use your book text to train AI models or for any other purpose.
  • Service Providers: With trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our app, conducting our business, or servicing you, as long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential

4. Data Storage and Protection

We take all reasonable measures to protect your information using industry-standard security measures. However, we cannot guarantee absolute security. Users are responsible for protecting their own data and devices.

Your data is stored:

  • Locally on your device
  • In secure cloud storage (if cloud sync is enabled)
  • On secure servers maintained by our third-party service providers

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with our services and as described in this Privacy Policy. Subscription and payment data may be retained for longer periods as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

All payments are processed through third-party payment processors (Apple App Store for iOS devices, Google Play Store for Android devices). We do not directly handle or store your payment card information.

6.3 Automatic Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal through your device's account settings.

6.4 Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your device's account settings. Refunds are handled according to the policies of Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Please refer to their respective refund policies for more information.

6.5 Changes to Subscription Plans

We reserve the right to modify subscription prices and features. We will notify you of any changes in advance. Continued use of the service after price changes constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

Updates will be communicated via the app or through other appropriate means.
